The electric scooter wave in India is getting stronger every single year, and 2026 is going to be even more exciting. With young riders looking for style, families seeking comfort, and daily commuters demanding low running costs, brands are gearing up to launch smarter, better and more powerful electric scooters. If you’ve been waiting for the next big EV in India, here’s a warm and friendly look at the five upcoming electric scooters that are all set to redefine the market next year.

1)Yamaha Aerox-E:

Yamaha has finally stepped into India’s electric scooter segment, and the excitement is already sky-high. The Aerox-E, the electric version of the popular Aerox, will make its debut in early 2026.
It comes packed with a 3 kWh battery paired to a 9.4 kW motor, delivering a punchy 48 Nm of torque—enough to give you that thrilling rush on city roads. The range is claimed to be 106 km on a single charge, making it ideal for daily commutes.

The Aerox-E wears a design similar to its ICE sibling, with subtle EV touches. Features like a smart key, 5-inch TFT screen, Bluetooth connectivity, traction control, Eco/Standard/Power riding modes and a reverse mode make it a modern and premium choice for young EV lovers.

2) Yamaha EC-06:

Along with the Aerox-E, Yamaha will also introduce the EC-06 in the first quarter of 2026. This one focuses more on practicality and family-friendly comfort.
It gets a larger 4 kWh fixed battery with an impressive 160 km claimed range. The electric motor delivers up to 6.7 kW of peak power, which ensures smooth acceleration without compromising efficiency.

Features like telematics, an LCD digital cluster, multiple riding modes and a reverse mode make the EC-06 a smart and dependable scooter. River Mobility will handle its production in India, ensuring competitive pricing and localisation.

3) Next-Gen Bajaj Chetak:

Bajaj Chetak has become one of India’s most trusted electric scooters, and now it’s ready for its next big update.
A new version of the Chetak EV was recently spotted on test, revealing a refreshed design with a redesigned tail light, a cleaner rear tyre hugger, a new switchgear setup and a more comfortable, flatter seat.

Although Bajaj is expected to continue using the familiar 3.5 kWh battery with about 150 km range, the improvements in comfort and refinement will make the next-gen Chetak an even stronger competitor in the EV segment.

4) Simple Energy’s:

Simple Energy is preparing something quite different from their usual sporty scooters—a new family-oriented electric scooter.
A recently leaked design patent shows a clean, functional, minimalistic design with a long flat seat, chunky side panels, a flat floorboard and an LED headlamp.

Technical details remain under wraps, but it’s clear that this scooter will be designed to suit everyday Indian families. Expect a comfortable ride experience, decent range and competitive pricing when it launches next year.

5) Ather EL Series:

Ather Energy is all set to take a big step forward with its all-new EL platform. Revealed earlier this year, this platform will form the base of a new range of Ather scooters, starting from late 2026.

The biggest highlights include an advanced electronic braking system (AEBS) and a futuristic Charge Drive Controller with an integrated onboard charger. The EL01 concept, showcased alongside, hints at a family-friendly scooter built for reliability and comfort.

These next-gen scooters from Ather will be smarter, safer and more efficient—perfect for riders who want modern tech without compromising practicality.
